An Olympic Encyclopedia

After resting more than 1500 years the olympic games were revitalised in 1896 in a modernised form. On the initiative of the French baron Pierre de Coubertin the first olympic games in modern time were held in Athens, Greece, and the games has since then been held every four years with the exception of the two world wars.
